Pells\, Donald Bullen (all DAV certified service officers)\, will present this informative workshop about family preparation and survivor assistance for Veterans and their spouse\, care givers of veterans or their spouse. The workshop will include a free guide covering important topics like: \n— Benefits for Veterans and their spouses \n— Burial options and payment for funeral \n— DIC (dependent indemnity compensation) for spouse if Veteran dies from a service connected disability\, or if it is a contributing factor \n— Social Security benefits \n— Family planning worksheet for both the Veteran and their spouse helping to organize their estate \n— How to save on probate costs \n— Information for the survivor to request additional benefits \n— Helpful forms for numerous benefits:  VA form for a Durable power of attorney for medical care\, living will \n— Information on aid and attendance and home bound benefits \nSpeaker Biographies’ \nMr. Caron received a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School\, and is licensed to practice law in Maine and Massachusetts\, Federal Court System including the U.S Supreme Court\, U.S. Court Of Military Appeals\, and U.S. Court of Appeals For Veterans Claims. \nMr. Pells graduated from the United States Military Academy and also received an MBA degree from the Indiana University Kelly School of Business. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years specializing in tactical and Strategic communications\, but also had assignments in Jet Engine Procurement and Foreign Language training. Upon retirement from the U.S. Army\,  he works for EDS Corporation and other commercial companies designing and constructing fiber optic networks and facilities plus designing software solutions. \nMr. Bullen served a successful 25-year Military career in the army. He managed the logistics of a variety of army combat organizations. After retirement as a Chief Warrant Officer grade W4\, he was employed as a  Senior Engineer Manager by IBM Federal Systems and managed the development of logistics systems for Navy submarine combat systems and Army combat system training simulators. DESCRIPTION:“Vascular Health Seminar” \nGuest speaker\, Chris Meyer\, MD\, will conduct a seminar on “Vascular Health.” Dr. Meyer is a vascular surgeon who specializes in leg circulation problems exclusively. He graduated from Notre Dame University Summa Cum Laude and has been helping patients in Central Florida for over a decade. Dr. Meyer is an associate at Florida Vein Care Specialists and has offices in both Melbourne and Merritt Island. \nAs we get older most people tend to have some level of venous insufficiency that manifests itself in chronically swollen legs\, varicose veins\, and leg pain- sometimes even venous ulcers. Patients now wearing compression stockings and taking water pills may have better options. \nThis seminar will cover vascular health and how it applies to seniors. We will discuss causes of leg swelling\, varicose veins\, and leg pain. We’ll demonstrate new technology and therapies that are available to prevent and correct these leg problems. We’ll also have sonography available for on the spot vascular imaging. It’s a great chance for people to get a free vascular checkup. \nLunch will provided. DESCRIPTION:The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)\, a service of Aging Matters in Brevard\, is now offering free exercise and health education classes to prevent or delay the progression of osteoporosis in older men and women. \nBone Builders is a volunteer led osteoporosis prevention exercise and education program for older men and women.  During one-hour classes that meet twice weekly\, participants lift light weights to improve their bone and muscle strength while also working to better their balance. Classes are limited in size\, and enrollment is required in advance.
